Essential oils have ruined me, but in the best way possible! I'm obsessed with them, I love them and I use them all the time. I use them for my yoga classes, my own personal yoga practice, during my daily routines, I kid you not-All. Of. The. Time. I was first introduced to their magic during the end of one of my very first yoga classes. The instructor went around to every student and sprayed a lavender mist over each one of us in savasana. In that moment I remember thinking, "wow, I was relaxed before...but now..." Yes! The lavender helped to take me into a more meditative state. Ever since becoming a yoga teacher, I have delved deeper and deeper into the world of essential oils. Take peppermint, for example, did you know it can help relieve nausea and headaches, and it's been proven to increase energy?! Also, fun fact, frankincense and myrrh are used much like lavender, to calm the mind, but they can also help stabilize emotional imbalances by relieving stress and tension.
There are hundreds, even thousands, of books that provide 'recipes' for many types of health issues, including diabetes, osteoarthritis and bronchitis, to name a few. There essential oils for pre and post-natal care and even epilepsy patients, the sky is the limit! Disclaimer: essential oils are not meant to take the place of western medicine or your doctor's orders. BUT they have been shown to further pain from a patient and put them more at ease. Especially in a yoga class, the use of oils can further your practice mentally, emotionally and physically and that is why I love bringing these benefits to my students.
I teach an Asana Flow with essential oils class on Mondays at 11:00am, come try a class-you won't be disappointed!
